Foreign National Wanted in Thai Corruption Case Apprehended at South Jakarta Immigration Office While Applying for Residence Permit Extension

JAKARTA – The South Jakarta Class I Special Immigration Office (non-TPI) has apprehended a Thai national, identified by the initials PV, who is a wanted fugitive in connection with an alleged bribery case in Thailand. The individual was taken into custody on Friday (September 25, 2026), when he arrived at the South Jakarta Immigration Office to process an extension of his residence permit.
This action follows a request for assistance from Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), which was relayed via Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to the Directorate General of Immigration on September 16, 2026. In response to this request, PV’s name was entered into the "Subject of Interest" (SOI) system to monitor his movements while in Indonesia.
Through this system, PV’s presence was detected when he applied for an extension of his residence permit, citing his employment as a Project Manager at PT EIS. Immigration officers subsequently took him into custody and transported him to the Directorate General of Immigration for further questioning.
An investigation revealed that PV’s passport had been revoked by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs as of October 15, 2025. Furthermore, PV is suspected of violating Article 119, paragraph (1), of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko confirmed that the apprehension was the result of information provided by Thai authorities, coordinated through the KPK. He stated that administrative immigration measures—specifically deportation and an entry ban—will be imposed on PV.
PV is scheduled to be deported on Thursday (October 8, 2026) via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. This action serves as both an enforcement of immigration law and a demonstration of international cooperation in monitoring the presence of foreign nationals in Indonesia. The South Jakarta Immigration Office is committed to consistently carrying out its immigration service and oversight functions in a professional manner. Through meticulous inspections and coordination with the Directorate General of Immigration, the office supports law enforcement and ensures that the presence of foreign nationals in Indonesia complies with applicable regulations.
