JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections began implementing a Work From Home (WFH) policy on Friday for Civil Servants performing management support and/or administrative duties. This policy refers to Circular Letter of the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Number 3 of 2026 concerning the Implementation of Official Duties for Civil Servants in Government Agencies and Circular Letter of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Number 2 of 2026, and is effective starting Friday (April 10, 2026).

The Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, emphasized that this policy aims to support more efficient energy management and utilization, as well as ensure long-term environmental protection and management.

"We ensure that immigration service operations will not be disrupted. Work from home (WFH) is intended for civil servants performing management support duties. Service officers or those conducting immigration supervision will continue to work as usual," said Hendarsam on Wednesday (April 8, 2026).

Civil servants who will remain on duty as usual on Fridays include all personnel working at the Immigration Office (passport and residence permit services), immigration checkpoints (TPI) at international airports, ports, and border crossings, as well as intelligence and immigration surveillance units.

The Directorate General of Immigration also closely monitors the effectiveness of employees working from home. Each direct supervisor is required to monitor daily work results to ensure productivity is maintained even when not physically present in the office.

In closing, Hendarsam Marantoko conveyed a message to all Immigration officials throughout Indonesia to continue prioritizing the public interest.

"The public's interests are our top priority. I have instructed all heads of regional offices, heads of immigration offices, and heads of immigration detention centers to monitor the situation directly in the field and ensure that services continue to operate quickly, transparently, and without interruption. The implementation of WFH must not diminish the quality of the services we have built," Hendarsam concluded.
